Technology and Curriculum

Instructional design concepts and the appropriate application of technology to support learning experiences was the focus of this course. The primary method of instructional design studied was backward design based on the book Understanding by Design by Wiggins and McTighe.

The culminating project was the building of a learning activity applying the Understanding by Design principles and employing technology in a meaningful way. My team created a Spanish Language Learning Adventure combining opportunities for social knowledge building through an online language learning site called busuu.com and online discussion forums embedded within the custom learning website called “echolurn” that was built for the activity.
